Ocean Basket, Sam Levy's Village [Review]
I finally made my way to the relatively new Ocean Basket conveniently located next to the Cinema and right opposite St. Elmos restaurant at the Sam Levy's Village Entertainment Centre.
Its opening on the 24th of December 2014 definitely came as great music to the ears of any seafood lover like myself.
I went there on a Friday afternoon which i expected would be busy and would give a true reflecion of the atmosphere and performance of the staff when they are under pressure. Unfortunately (or fortunately) when i arrived, it was realtively empty.
The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and forthcoming and definitely made us feel comfortable. We got a table inside and the open space setting allowed for a lot of natural light which was awesome. Theres nothing worse than feeling cramped in a tiny little restaurant and trying to enjoy a meal.
We ordered the sunshine platter.
I haven't always been a fan of sushi, but this made great strides in winning me over.
i thoroughly enjoyed it and could have done with a bigger platter.
Next, I ordered the modest prawn and muscle combo. That went down very well. So well cooked and a generous amount of lemon and garlic sauce over the muscles and prawns. AND service was delightfully fast so i was a happy camper.
The waitresses knew the menu very well but never seemed to check on you after serving you your food which can be a bad or good attribute depending on how you feel about the attention. i sometimes find it irritating to be asked if "everything is okay?" every 5 minutes but i would have appreciated someone coming at least once during our meal.
Generally, the staff were alright but a little more training on engaging with customers, and they will be great.
Generally, i had a great time, they will be seeing my seafood-loving-face many many more times in the future, that i can guarantee.
